Laptop Connector/Plug
Just looking at the plug on your laptop can be misleading as they come in different shapes and sizes that differ by only mm and may be hard to differentiate between.
The most common connector used on laptops/notebooks is a hollow plug or "barrel" connector. You will need to check if your connector has a centre pin, the length of the part that is inserted your laptop may be different, the inner and outer diameter's may be different and the connection of the inner and outer may be different.
If your product is fitted with a more distinguishable connector, such as a din connector, where this is a set shape and number of pins you will have to determine the pin assignment as they can be wired up/connected differently from power supply to power supply.

Laptop Output Power
If your laptop states that it requires 19V 3.42A DC output, this does not necessarily mean that you must find a power supply that has exactly the same output specifications as this, or your original adapter. As long as the adapter you select fits within the power requirements i.e. provides 19V and the Amps are above 3.42A it can provide you with adequate and safe power for the laptop.
When your desired voltage is not offered as an option you can select the closest higher voltage option e.g. 19V supports 19.5V or 19V supports 18.5V as long as the maximum power of the Adapter is not exceeded e.g. volts x amps = watts.
